Palacio de las Artes Reina Sofia, Valencia
The Palacio de las Artes Reina Sofia is an extraordinary architectural achievement and cultural landmark in the heart of Valencia. Designed by famed architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, the performing arts center makes use of cutting-edge technologies that complement its contemporary design.
The building’s lighting design was conceptualized by CA2L Il•luminació, a Barcelona-based lighting design firm, who specified Color Kinetics’ ColorBlast 12 systems to adorn the building with color and movement. A total of 104 systems were installed along the top of the building and addressed in pairs, generating symmetrical effects on either side of the building.
so interesting. me, as one of the fans of calatrava`s design, so glad every time i see ur new design. with your way of design in using material. and create it at your own way. so that it gives a new taste to the surrounding. dont know why this design represented what is inside.

Hope that sometime in my lifetime that ability to transform not only the structure, it’s surroundings & the materials, but the influence on perception & feeling of the onlooker, will be within my understanding.

I think Queen Sofia would be very proud, it’s a very feminine and Iberian piece os art… this futuristic seashell has all the grace of a flower in bloom, it is a very elegant piece, that seems strong and i wonder if it is storm resistant, very eco-beautiful ! I guess the best way for an architect to be a sculptor is to become an engineer also ? just to save time and stress, i just wish education would become more and more multidisciplinary, to encourage more creative buildings and healthy smart cities.
